EB1
Located along a wooded ridge, just minutes from downtown Seattle, this home strikes a balance between city and nature. The entire living space is enclosed in a single compact box set upon a smaller base of two pile-supported concrete piers—a design solution that requires absolute minimal ground disturbance and is a direct response to the sensitive hillside setting
A theme of minimal simplicity is maintained throughout the design—from the home’s massing to the restrained material palette and detailing. Light and views are captured in refined spaces composed of simple planes and a consistent palette of plaster, wood, steel and glass. The exterior is defined by a single transparent view wall, balanced on the other three sides with sheltering walls of natural cedar.
